Need of Gospel in India:
Christian population growth is the Population growth of the global Christian community. According to a 2011 Pew Research Center survey, there were 2.3 billion Christians around the world in 2010, more than three times as many as the 600 million recorded it 1910. However, this rate of growth is slower than the overall population growth over the same time period. According to a 2015 Pew Research Center study, by 2050, the Christian population is expected to be 2.9 billion. The average Christian fertility rate is 2.7 children per woman, which is higher than the global average fertility rate of 2.5. Globally, Christians were only slightly older (median age of 30) than the global median age of 28 in 2010. According to Pew Research religious switching is projected to have a modest impact on changes in the Christian population. According to the World Christian Encyclopedia, approximately 2.7 million convert to Christianity annually from another religion; World Christian Encyclopedia also stated that Christianity ranks in first place in net gains through religious conversion. While, according to "The Oxford Handbook of Religious Conversion", approximately 15.5 million convert to Christianity annually from another religion, approximately 11.7 million leave Christianity annually, and most of them become irreligious, resulting in a net gain of 3.8 million. Christianity adds about 65.1 million people annually due to factors such as birth rate and religious conversion, while losing 27.4 million people annually due to factors such as death rate and religious apostasy. Most of the net growth in the numbers of Christians is in Africa, Latin America and Asia.
CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS:
The history of Christianity has been the history of challenges. The spiritualism it advocates has been challenged by materialism, love by hatred, brotherhood by enmity, peace by war, faith by skepticism, unity by schisms and so on. Challenges against religions all over the world unprecedented development of science and materialism and the consequent loss of faith, drifting of the young and intelligent from religions, breaking up of the family and the related social institutions, loss of values - are all challenges to Christianity also. As the Church is part of history and is composed of concrete, particular living men all challenges to human development- massive poverty and degradation, hunger, disease, inequality among individuals and nations, injustice, oppressive structures, atheism, political and economic imperialism in their national and international dimensions, wretchedness and misery, religious revivalism and fundamentalism, misguided and selfish power politics, repression, oppression and exploitation, ethnic, cultural, religious and linguistic conflicts, addiction to alcohol and drugs, unemployment, tragic realities of women like dowry, destruction of female fetuses, high incidence of suicide, divorce, confusion over moral norms on euthanasia' - are all challenges to the Church too. And all these challenges to the Church are challenges to the Christianity in India especially to SMC since it is part of the universal Church. However, here we deals only with, those challenges which very often stand in the way of achieving the mission of SMC and the responses it has to make to face these challenges.
The mission of the Church of every type, every time and every place is evangelize, which is the propagation of Christian principles.
Therefore, there is no better test of the excellence of Christian church than to examine its achievement in the field of evangelize as institutions must be judged in terms of its achievements in their objectives. When one view through this angle the SMC's role does not offer much satisfaction to the students of its history - religious as well as secular.

Bishop. Dr. Dillip Kumar Bal
Founder Director
Here I would like to share my brief life testimony where my life turned towards the savior and I miraculously catch by the Lord and to only for believing on him rather to work for his kingdom expansion.
I was born and brought up in a very orthodox and religious family of Hindu faith where there was a high position among the relatives as well as in the entire community. My forefathers who were having close connection with serving under Kingly province of Parlakhemundi of Odisha in British era. Our family was highly recognized by many for the rituals and righteous work. My name is Rev. Dillip Kumar Bal. I was born on 21st June 1973 in this family as a elder son. Both of my parents are high level Government employees. And my younger brother is also a Mechanical Engineer. Our family comprises of we four member only. Since my childhood I used to practice all Hindu diets and follow all the instruction of Hindu faith and Believe. As an obedient ritual boy I had a strong witness on the deep faith on all god and goddesses and respect to my parents, Priests and elders as written in the Puranas and Vedas. I use to observe all the Hindu festivals and visit the pilgrims. I was not neglecting to follow all the instruction of Hindu faith and respect Hindu gods and goddesses, Idols and temples.
As a faithful child I always try to do all the good things which could glorify my parents. I grew older as years went by and studied well in the schools. My parent used to stay at separate places due to their official duties. I and my younger brother used to stay with either of my parent for our studies. And as I grew up in age and knowledge as I started to lead my life as per the demands of the society. My relation with my parents started to be weakening as I went on making more friends with people of my age. During the period I use to stay with my mother while continuing my studies. My parents were unaware about changing of my personal life.
Dramatically there was a drastic change in my life when I touched my teen age. Since I was having abundant money as my parents both were Governmental employee. I was having no control be my parents since they had no time for us, so I was very easily dragged by the bed habits through my friends. The modernization slowly attracted me towards filthiness. I was gradually addicted with dirty habits, finally I reached to addiction stage of Brown Sugar and started consuming drugs. Then easily I started to play gambling where the return profit was handsome to fulfill my quench of addition. life became more and more critical.
The time changed their perception. I reached apex of my addiction and filthiness. Time start-ed to take action on me with unbearable trail on me, which I never imagined to be on that situation. But that was turning point of my life.
I was hospitalized for severe pain in my chest. I was thinking this pain is just normal. But Doc-tor revealed that I was having a hole in my heart due to heavy drinking. I went to more physical pain and mental agony. This made my parents very closer to me and became more attentive to me but all my friends who were my drinking partners fled away. Slowly I was going near to death.
One day in the hospital bed I see that one person was standing and I came to know through other ward mates that he is a Christian pastor who came to meet me. He came to closer to me and started to talk with me. Pastor slowly tried to talk with me and to know my exact problem. Gradually he started to comfort me. He told me that Lord Jesus Loves you and he will never let you down. Surely he will heal you and help you to stand again. This is the first time I heard about a person whose name is Jesus who loves me and willing to heal me. He once again assured me that I will be going to be healed and my situation is going to change. I was surprised that how a person who does not know me could loves me so much. He told me that Jesus is the doctor of Doctors who has power to heal you. Is there any such person who can do like this. Many questions were in my mind. The times goes on in the hospital and my situation keep changing and I could see that slowly I am going to be healed and my physical condition is developing.
My little faith started to grow. It was really a hard nut for me to crack since there was a widen gap between worldly life and spiritual life. Moreover my faith was far distinguished from the faith of Jesus. I was in the stage of puzzle, I did not know that what to do and how to do, where to go? However the quest continued with the support faith of that Pastor and his long fasting and prayer for me gave me a new life. He started to teach me about Christ gradually. I sensed the power and faithfulness of Christ. This very inevitable incident made me mingle with Pastor and spiritual life.
But unfortunately all this incidents and miracles deeds were not admitted and accepted by my orthodox parents. They disagreed with me and my disagreement ended with separation with my parents. My parents and relatives boycotted me and started to make social distancing me.
Even they disallowed me to claim from the family properties. I failed to convince them and finally I had to leave home. But I trusted the good Lord my master and savior Jesus Christ. I moved out from my family and parents and went to different places, and finally went to Raipur.
Here after my original trials and tests started in my life that was painful. In absence of friends & parent’s support I was lost as if I am lonely in the middle of the sea. I had to struggle daily for my survival and for every penny. But it was the desire of the Lord which taught me how the people in distress struggle for survival. The Lord wanted me to learn, and prepare a way for which I may be summoned. I started to earn my daily wages in a cloth store as salesman. My Job keeps changing from sales man to stall keeper. I started to sale vegetable in the daily Market. Their also I failed to earn daily bread since I had no experience to sell. I went for daily construction laborer where I use to get just minimum wages. But I fall sick. Like that I had shifted to do different type of manual work where I got failed to earn my 2 meal wages. Finally I planned to get hire a rickshaw. And started pulling rickshaw in Raipur city. Many time I failed to get pay since no customer no pay. No proper food no proper stay.
One day evening I was a sleeping in my rickshaw nearby footpath of railway rickshaw stand.i was fully exhausted due to hard manual work. I think God might have seen my pain and hear-ing my continuous prayer. I was instructed with a word (where there is no vision, the people perish) of Prob 29.18. Thus these enchanting words ordered me, as if “take up your cot and go”. God started to change my life and life style. I thought that Lord how healed me and separated me from my old faith for his name sake he will never ever forsake me. My heart started thinking to go back to Lords word and work. Then started to meet with diffident Gods people who started to help me and finally I got baptism by a pastor on the year of 1992.And by the help of few Lords people in Raipur I joined the Bible College in Bombay.
By that Time God surprisingly had prepared for me a girl who could be my life partner Maitree Tirkey to whom I got married after my study. Who encouraged me and became a friend of me in the spiritual path. She helped and encouraged me to be focus on ministry though many trails and hindrances come in the way. We both started slum ministry in Raipur and surrounding districts. Many people started to turn towards Lord through us. Lord started to use us in many areas. I do believe that God was with me all the time ordaining me all the time to en-trust me to this place where he want to harvest.
Since then I never looked back and continued to serve Lord after the bible college life. I start-ed doing ministry in tribal and rural areas of Odisha, Chattishgarh as well as Maharashtra. The ministry work was full of challenges and adventurous. But Lord was so faithful to grow our ministry. Days gone, months gone and even years gone but Lords favor is always with us. We are standing on faith of Christ. Many challenges came to strengthen us. But Lord was faithful in all my work.
I am continuing my mission work, God’s blessing and teaching are always with me. His benevolent hand is leading me is my duties and I am consistently guided by the presence of the Holy Spirit. While I am continuing my ministry work, God has made me able enough to shoulder some more of His works.
By the grace of Lord now I am going to complete my 27 years of ministry work. Lord was so faithful to me so I could be used in different level of ministry with hug experience in different aspect such as, Administration, Legal support, church planting, preaching, teaching, evangelism, organizing, collaborating, child care, women empowerment, Liasoning, leading ability. Now my present ministry is focused mainly on empowering women and adolescent, children and youth who are neglected by Church, Community and Country. I too representing different stages and platforms. Gradually Lord upgraded me with managerial skills and administration qualities to deal different issues in ministry as well as in civil societies.
Thank God for the responsibilities God has vested on my wife and me. We are committed to carry out the responsibility God has entrusted to us. I also pray that God would allow The Holy Spirit to inhabit the hearts of my Parents and brother so that they would come to Christ one day and to be inheritance of Kingdom of God.
I humbly request you to remember all these thing in your personal and community prayers, so that the will and intention of our Lord Jesus Christ will fulfill in our life very soon. Please also pray for my ministry, my devoted wife, two darling daughters and one son. May God be with all of us in our thoughts and action. May God bless every one of us. Thank you. Amen.
